You are Uniquely You

In attempting to grow my yoga business, I'm supposed to become really visible on social media. Ugh. So moving out of my comfort zone (read- Facebook lol), I started my Instagram page. I'm completely comfortable with who I am and where my practice is, but I'm seeing so many yoga pages with "perfect" people, wearing "perfect" clothing, in "perfect" poses, in gorgeous, exotic locations, and I have to admit to feeling a bit insecure. So this is the perfect time to practice the yoga principle of santosha, or contentment. If you practice with me in person, you may hear me say not to compare yourself to the person on the mat next to you. You are not them. Your practice may not be anywhere near the same place as theirs. Their body might be 20 years younger, or 30 years older than yours. They may be very naturally flexible, or they may have been working a year to "touch their toes". You are you and you can't change that. Nor should you want to! Your body, your practice, is uniquely yours. Allow your body to do what it can do and be thankful for wherever it goes. Celebrate your uniqueness! And I'll keep celebrating mine right along side you. Namaste.
