We Are One

You feel it, right? The practice of yoga is so much more than the poses. The word yoga comes from "yuj" to yoke, or unite. What are we trying to unite? The "easy" answer is our mind, body, and soul. It's not an easy thing to actually do, but the concept is fairly simple. But the deeper idea is to unite our true selves with the person we have created ourselves to be. I'm Mary Jo, I'm 51 years old, I have parents, siblings, a spouse, pets, etc... But my true self is what has always been and what will always be. My soul, energy, essence, whatever your word for it is...is what I really am. Connecting with that is the real goal. And once we connect with that within ourselves, it's easy and imperative now more than ever, to take the next step. If that's me, then that's also you. Despite our experiences and everything that's going on around us, that seeks to divide us, there is no "other". We are all souls. Most of us seek in some way to connect with that within ourselves. Nothing our eyes see changes that. Take a look at people around you today and rather than seeing the differences with your eyes, see if you can "see" the sameness within.
The light within me, sees and honors the light within you.
